Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam has, over the years, under the benign guidance of the Jagadguru, Sankaracharya, guided, encouraged and blessed the setting up of numerous institutions to serve the needs of the poor. The focus areas have been social activities and initiatives in the domains of Culture & Heritage, Veda (Spiritual), Vidya (Education), and Vaidya (Healthcare). Noteworthy Institutions in the Educational field are the Sankara Vidyalayas, Sankara Colleges and Kanchi University to name a few. In the Healthcare segment, there are numerous General Hospitals like the Hindu Mission Hospitals and Sankara Eye Hospitals across multiple States in the country. All these Institutions are run by numerous Charitable Trusts. One such Institution that was setup in Kanchipuram was Sankara Multispeciality Hospital under Shri Sankara Kripa Educational & Medical Trust, Kanchipuram (SSKEMT)
